Non-Immigrant Visas

Diplomatic & International Organizations Visas (A, G & NATO)

Applicants for these visa types (except the personal employees, attendants and domestic employees of the applicant) should contact the Non-Immigrant Visa Section to schedule a Consulate appointment. Refer to How to Contact Us. You will not have an Applicant Service Center appointment.

 

  • A Visas  - Foreign officials coming to the United States to engage solely in official activities for their national government, whether on permanent assignment or temporary duty, are accorded “A” status, as are their dependents.

*Local government officials who intend to come to the United States exclusively on behalf of their state, province, borough, or other local political entity would not qualify for “A” visa status.

*A dependent of a foreign official who is assigned to a third country who wishes to visit and/or vacation in the United States would not qualify for “A” visa status.  

 

  • G Visas - Personnel assigned to a permanent mission of an International Organization and their immediate families are accorded “G” status.

 

  • NATO Visas - Visas are issued under the NATO classification in accordance with the provisions of the Agreement on the Status of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

 

Additional Information

Personal employees, attendants, domestic workers, or servants of individuals who hold a valid A, G or NATO visa may be issued an A, G or NATO visa, if they meet certain requirements. They must appear for a personal interview.
