What is a Warden?
A Warden is a United States citizen who volunteers to assist the Consulate by rapidly disseminating official U.S. government information to other U.S. citizens. The U.S. Consulate in Juarez does not have the resources to contact, individually, large number of Americans, especially in times of emergency. The number of wardens willing to serve determines the effectiveness of the whole warden system.
Who do Wardens contact?
Wardens contact other U.S. citizens. However, they can contact these citizens only if those citizens have registered with the U.S. Consulate. Americans are therefore encouraged to register and ensure that their contact information is up-to-date. Registration information is protected under the Privacy Act and can be used by Wardens only in their official capacity.
