Where do I file the petition?

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services at the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez accepts I-130 or I-360 petitions from U.S. citizens who reside in the Mexican States of Chihuahua or Durango. U.S. citizens whose principal residence is not in our jurisdiction or who are temporarily visiting in our jurisdiction must file the petition with the appropriate U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service Center in the United States.

We require legal Mexican residence evidence in the form of a FM-2/3 Mexican visa and other documentation that the US Citizen petitioner is residing in Chihuahua or Durango, Mexico.

I'm not eligible to file in Ciudad Juarez, where do I file the petition?

If you are not eligible to file the petition with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, or you reside in the United States, you should file the petition on behalf of your relative with the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service Center having jurisdiction over your place of residence or last residence in the United States.

What is the Filing Fee?

The fee for filing an I-130 or an I-360 is $190.00 (or Mexican Peso equivalent). The fee must be paid in person to the U.S. Consulate Cashier located in the Immigrant Visa (Building B) Section. The fee is payable by the following means:

  • Cash in U.S. Dollars or Mexican Pesos; or
  • Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.  Debit Cards with the Visa logo are also accepted.

Supporting Documentation

Original documents with copies must be submitted. Required pictures are standard passport style.
