  1. If I give my biographical information for a V visa via your call center will that speed up my appointment?
    Yes. Giving the information by phone will speed up your appointment. However, at this time even when information is received by phone the wait for an appointment can be from four to six months.


  2. Is it necessary to present the I-797 Notice of Approval at the time of the appointment?
    NO. The I-797 is optional, but if you are in possession of we would appreciate it if you could present it at the time of the interview.


  3. I have already submitted my DS-3052. If I submit another DS-3052 will that help or hinder my application?
    Please do not send another DS-3052 as it will not help your initial application in any way.


  4. My spouse is in the U.S. and will attend his V visa appointment in Cd. Juarez. Will he/she be found ineligible for living illegally in the U.S.?
    No. V visa applicants are exempt from the 3 and 10 year bar under section 212(a)(9)(B)(i) and (ii) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). However, all other ineligibilities under the INA are still applicable.


  5. Is it necessary to present economic solvency evidence for every applicant in a family? No. One set of financial documents will suffice if the family is applying together.

  6. What is the cost for the V visa?
    The cost is $100.00 USD per applicant paid to any BanaMex bank branch.


  7. Is medical exam required and what is the cost?
    Yes, a medical exam is required and the cost is $55.00 (Dollars) for children under the age of 15 and $135.00 (Dollars) for applicants 15 years of age and older. Immunizations are not required of V visa applicants.


  8. If the priority date is now current and my case is at the U.S. Consulate, can I apply for a V visa?
    No. Once the priority date is current an applicant must continue process of their immigrant visa based on their Family second preference petition.


  9. Is the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez the only V visa issuing post in Mexico?
    Yes. The U.S. Consulate in Mexico is the only V Visa issuing post in Mexico.


  10. How can I extend my child’s V visa or INS permit once they turn 21 years of age?
    At this time there is no provision in the law to allow those children who obtained a V visa to extend their I-94 or renew their V visa. Once they turn 21 years of age they are considered to be unlawfully present in the U.S.
